Some people say that technology
has created less free time rather than more, but I think that is not true
because people in the past developed the technology in order to make our lives
more comfortable. Wasting time does not lead to a comfortable life, so people
consider shortening the waste of time through developing technology. There are
three major ways to shorten the waste of time.
At first, we can get much
information from the Internet. When we surf the Internet, we mostly get
information about the past. On the contrary, some Social Network Services (e.g.
Facebook, Twitter) give us current information. Although we had to go out and
talk with someone to get information before, we can acquire various information
from different organizations now.
Technology have also enabled us
to connect with anyone far from us, for example, the phone calls and video
calls. Thanks to telephones, we got able to talk with everyone without meeting
them. We don’t have to take long time and cost much money to move somewhere to
see them. What is more, when we use video calls, we can get the opponent’s
facial expressions. This is a very important fact to appreciate each other.
Finally, digitalizing has become
one of the new technologies now. Digitalizing means that we don’t have to use
real things. When we want to read books, we can read them If only we had a smartphone
or tablet. Of course, digitalizing also shortens useless time. In Japan, so
many people use trains. If all people buy tickets one by one, so long lines
would be made up. However, if we have an electronic money, we can pass the gate
via just touching the gate by our electronic money instead of tickets.
Thanks to the Internet, we can
do everything in shorter time than ever, so I think the technology has created
more time rather than less. If it is possible to waste time because of the
technology, that is the fault of the person. When they play the video games or
use smartphone for a long time, they are just wasting their own time, I think.
Yes, I agree with you.
